Zanzibar is synonymous with Beautiful Beaches. This East African island city makes the list of every traveller who is remotely interested in visiting Africa. It’s also famous for its spices, which is actually the country’s second biggest product (it’s first is obviously tourism).
Now of course, Zanzibar makes our travel list too, but we were even more inspired to fast track our visit when we saw this travel guide by Lee Litumbe of Spirited Pursuit.
The ‘Travel Noire’ concept has crept up on Africans and Black Americans alike. If you’ve not heard this term, we don’t know where you’ve been. But it’s about travelling Africa, which is unfortunately, a road not often traveled. Lee takes this movement to a whole other level, and showcases her Travel Noire adventures through her website and Instagram to either inspire us or make us gushingly jealous. She does the same here too, showing us her adventures in Zanzibar.
While there are a million and one lists about what to do in Zanzibar, the authenticity and fun she depicts in her images and words are just inspirational; and we’ll go with that rather than any Trip Adviser list any day (although some of these lists do look interesting).
Below are some of the fun she got up to in Zanzibar: A 2-day visit to the famous Stone Town (a World Heritage Site btw) where she got doses of history and culture; Jambiani and Michanwi Pingwe beach where she caught some chill vibes on the white sands; Paje where she got her adventure on with kitesurfing and night beach parties; Mnemba Atoll were she got colourful with coral reef explorations; and Nungwi where she swam with and fed rehabilitated sea turtles.
If Zanzibar was never on your list, we bet it is now. Thanks Lee!
